Synopsis:
MY FATHER AND MY SON follows young Deniz, who grows up in the shadow of the 1980 military coup in Turkey. Having lost his mother before he was born, Deniz is raised by his father Sadık, a newspaper columnist, in a modest home, isolated from any extended family. That is, until one day, Sadık brings unexpected news: they are moving to a small town to live with Deniz’s grandfather—whom he has never met. As they arrive in the village, Sadık comes face-to-face with his estranged father after years of silence. The rift between them is deep, and reconciliation won’t come easily. The family welcomes Sadık and Deniz with a mix of joy and unease, unsure of the reasons behind their sudden return. As Deniz gradually bonds with the family he never knew, life begins to settle into a new rhythm—until an unforeseen tragedy shakes their world, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.
